Despot Cigars is a premium brand founded by brothers Jovan and Uglješa Despot, the second generation of a Serbian family deeply rooted in the cigar industry since 2004. Launched in 2019, the brand was born from a desire to create a private label that honors tradition while bringing a modern sensibility to the Balkan and international cigar scenes. Their philosophy, “Aroma sin compromiso” (Aroma without compromise), reflects a dedication to providing a rich, uncompromising sensory experience for every aficionado.
Craftsmanship and Origin
All Despot cigars are meticulously handcrafted from long-filler tobacco leaves in Estelí, the heart of Nicaragua. The brand sources its premium tobacco from the world’s most renowned regions, including Jalapa and Estelí in Nicaragua, as well as Ecuador and the United States. For example, their J Series features a sophisticated blend with an Ecuadorian Habano 98 wrapper and binder, combined with a filler of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian tobacco, resulting in a medium-bodied profile with complex notes of earth and wood.

The brand offers several distinct lines, most notably the J Series, Z Series, and U Series, alongside special editions like the Libertador.
